CGScreative Instagram Challenge How to Grow your Instagram Following

It's been a REALLY long time since the last #CGScreative photohallenge over on Instagram, and I am so excited to say that, due to popular demand...it's back!

Introducing the CGScreative February Instagram Photo Challenge

This is the fourth time I am hosting this fun photo challenge, and I am delighted to invite you to join in for the month of February.

If you're wanting to learn tips on how to build a more cohesive feed, connect with like minded people and ultimately grow your Instagram following and influence, then you are definitely in the right place!

If you have been following me for a little while, you may remember the first four photo challenges I hosted (all of which were a huge success with over 5000 submissions from people all over the world!. I received so many emails from the CGScreative community asking me if there would be another one, and so I am delighted to give a big resounding YES to that question!

*I just, you know, needed a bit of time to make and have a baby ;)

First, a little bit more on the purpose of this challenge:

Instagram is all about ENGAGEMENT, it always has been and always will be.

Even though there have been SO many algorithm changes over the past few years, it's still safe to say that the only way to grow your following on Instagram (in a genuine way, that is...there are after all a whole load of not-so-nice ways to buy followers/likes/comments) is to engage with people.

With the above in mind, I started the CGScreative Photo Challenge as a fun way for us all to engage with one another in an authentic way, while helping each other get seen by more people. Doing this grows your own audience and following as well as everyone else's...it's basically a win-win situation!

If you've never participated in a photo-challenge like this before don't worry.

It's really simple.

All you have to do is follow the prompts for each day.

CGSCreative Photo Challenge How to Grow your Instagram Following

For example, for the second day (the first day is all about introducing yourself so I will leave that up to you to decide how you want to say hello to everyone), you'll think about the theme ('Bubble') and then go and take/create an image that sums up the word 'Bubble'...what does this mean to you? This could be a photo of a glass of your favourite champagne, bubbles in the kitchen sink, or an irritating bubble that undoubtedly pops up when trying to cover your school books/diary with protective plastic. The prompts are open to any and all interpretation and are designed to get your creative juices flowing.

Share the graphic above on Instagram (and any of your other social media platforms) so we can get as many people joining in as possible. The more people who join, the more engagement each of us will get. You can interpret each prompt in any way you'd like. It’s all about being creative and having fun. Also, please don’t feel 'pressured' to post every day. This challenge is supposed to be a fun way of engaging with each other, and if you happen to miss a few days it doesn’t mean you're a failure. It means you’re human and have a busy life.

Some tips to make the most out of this challenge:

Take a screen shot of your Instagram account when you start the challenge. You can also just take out a notebook and jot down your number of followers. This way you'll have something to look back on once the challenge is over.
Spend a few minutes each day engaging with the other people taking part in the challenge. You can do this by clicking on the #cgsphotochallenge hashtag. Take some time to like and comment on the other photos, start up a conversation with someone, or just encourage someone.
Reply to every comment you get on your images. If you don't get any comments, don't feel despondent. Spend some time going through some of the other photos and comment on the ones you like. You'll be amazed at how many people comment back, and then head on over to your profile to follow/like/comment on your images
